I am so excited about the warm weather. Joe and I have been busy planting, pruning, weeding, mowing, mulching among other outdoor things around the yard. We have purchased some new garden furniture as well. I can't wait till my last day of work to enjoy many nights by the fire pit..

Another day in Pug Paradise. March 19 2011

Ping had been under the weather again this past week. Along with her leg issues she is on some antibiotics and more ear meds. She seems to be doing better. We are praying and keeping our fingers crossed. She is a trooper. You will notice from this picture we got rid of the area rugs and put in one big indoor outdoor carpet with just a few carpet mats. It's much easier to keep clean. It's not glued down so we can replace it easily.

It's chill day as most days are in the kitchen where the sun shines through the sliding door. On this day I captured them doing what they do best.. Sleeping and snoring..

Ping has been having some problems with her right hind leg for a few weeks. I would come home from work to see her excited to greet me as her back hind leg slipped from behind her when she was running around. It looked like her foot was asleep. After a short time she was fine. She would do this on and off for a few weeks until one day she couldn't walk on the floor at all. Her leg didn't seem to get back on track. We took her to the vet and she ruled out arthritis, disc or brain issues. Everything was fine except that back leg. She also is not in any pain. Without any extensive tests the vet thinks it's some sort of nerve issue either in her leg or lower back. She said she probably has numbness or the feeling of pins and needles. It could be old age or from all the snow that froze and she had to climb around or on top of with this rough winter. We also recently got hardwood floors that could have exasperated this condition. So hubby and I are in the middle of a follow the carpet trail makeover in our house. I am trying to make it look as presentable as I can. I will do whatever I can for my baby girl so she can get around and make her life easier. She is getting up there in age and needs all the help she can.. It seems to be working and she is doing better so far.. Fingers crossed!!!

This has been a rough winter. We have had many snow storms with a few ice storms mixed in. This is an ice storm we had early February.

Ping and Zoe want a piece of the squirrels. Two times in a row I let them out after their relentless barking as they watched them under the feeder. Both times they sunk deep into the snow when they ran past the feeder. So when I finally broke out the camera I was hoping to capture it on video but wouldn't you know this time they stopped right under the feeder.. It's still cute anyway..

I love my pugs Ping and Zoe to pieces but this blog post is about Zoe today. Zoe is very resourceful at finding anything that is close to her to use as a head rest. Since she was a pup she has had reflux. Which has led us to feed her three small meals a day. I wonder if she loves to rest her head on objects or if it is because of her reflux? Anyhoo.. She is so cute when she does it. There are many more silly things she has rested her head on but either a camera wasn't handy or she moved before I could get to one..

Christmas Day 2010

This year was the first time that we celebrated Christmas at The DiLoreto's house. Usually we had our party at my parents. Since my sister has a bigger house and a better set up for the holiday she took over the party. Same people.... different location... It worked out well and we had a wonderful time!!

And yes.. some of the celebration was in my BIL'S cool and eccentric garage..

Lantern Hill Foliage hike

Joe and I take a hike up Lantern Hill at least once or twice a year. I have a past blog that tells about the history of Lantern Hill. (Lantern Hill 2009) This year we hiked up there with my sister and her hubby. Here is a link to her blog from the day. Dawn's Blog She also has great info about Lantern Hill and it's history. The Foliage was spectacular that day and the weather was not sunny but perfect as far as the temperature goes.

Bonfire and Burning of the past October 23 2010

We had an end of the year bonfire at my sister and brother in laws house this past weekend. Along with enjoying the company of my family, good food and spirits, we burned some of our documents, bills and paperwork of the past. While Joe and I only brought one small Tupperware container over, my other brother in law had at least 3 big garbage bags full. It was quite fun examining some of the paperwork from the past and also crumpling them up just right so they didn't float up as fiery little air bombs. At the end of our few hours of burning my bil had to break out his leaf blower to blow the ash into the grass..

Foilage weekend in New Hampshire

Joe and I had such a great time August in New Hampshire that we decided to stay overnight in October to see the foliage. We arrived Columbus weekend Sunday afternoon and took a wonderful hike up Mt Pemigewasset (Indian Head) Summit. The next day (Columbus Day) We went to Lincoln for breakfast and a craft show before heading home the scenic route on the Kancamagus highway.

The Big E Sept 2010

Every year Joe and I go to the Big E in Springfield Mass at least once or twice. We used to go on our own or occasionally with a friend or family members. The past few years we have been going with my brother and his wife. We have lots of fun shopping, eating and checking out relaxing at the Martini Bar. This year we got lots of goodies including some cool butterfly sets in my usual Mexican decor shop. There were so many cool colors that I had a hard time deciding on colors. I ended up purchasing one for my guest room downstairs and a set for my exercise room. Barb picked up two sets herself. Not bad for 15 dollars a set and hand painted in Mexico. I also stopped at my usual jewelry store and got my yearly bag of Kettle Corn behind the New Hampshire building. Yum!!

Loon Mountain August 28, 2010

This was our last adventure after a morning hike to Franconia Falls. We decided to take the gondola up Loon Mountain. On top of the mountain they had a restaurant, Glacial Caves, observation tower among a few other things. They also have a area with built in bleachers and an alter that hosts weddings. There was actually one going on when we were up there. The view is breathtaking and it's like getting married in heaven. What a way to start a marriage! The guests took gondolas up to the event. It was not a long service as one got through when we were heading up, another started shortly after we arrived and was done by the time we finished exploring the caves..

Franconia Falls

We took a hike to Franconia Falls on our last full day there. It was a fairly easy 7 mile hike both ways. We hiked to the falls where people would slide down this area of rocks into a deep area of water.

Franconia Notch State Park August 27 2010

Joe and I took a few hikes while we were in New Hampshire but nothing had us prepared for how tough this hike would be. It was all uphill a mountain trail but we found it more difficult going down. I used muscles in my thighs and calves that I never knew I had.. The hike started at the Basin in Franconia Notch state park and we took the Cascade Trail up to Lonesome Dove Lake. It was heaven on the top of a mountain and so well worth the climb on trails of tree roots, mud, rocks and a few bridge planks. The beauty of the water rushing on the rocks forming all sorts of waterfalls on the way up was well worth the hike. You could easily find a place to sit off the trail among the rocks and rushing water.. After arriving and enjoying the beauty of the breath taking Lonesome Lake we headed down another trail toward Lafayette campground and then took the Pemi trail back to the Basin. It was a 6 mile but felt like so much more. I walk at least 8 miles in the summer and my daily walks are nothing in comparison to this hike. My legs were sore for three days afterward. I can't wait to go back and do more hikes like this..

Flume Gorge New Hampshire August 26 2010

This was the first hike we took when arriving for our anniversary weekend up in New Hampshire.

Discovered in 1808, the Flume is a natural gorge extending 800 feet at the base of Mount Liberty. The walls of Conway granite rise to a height of 70 to 90 feet and are 12 to 20 feet apart.

I was lucky enough to have Chickadees nesting in one of our bird houses right by our side door this Spring. I took a few pictures and videos of the parents and babies. From what I could see there was at least three babies in the nest. I was sad to see them leave the nest but happy to experience what I did.

I was having some fun messing around with this program I got in my email this morning from Hollywood Hair Virtual Makeover. I signed up for it years ago. I messed around with the makeup and hairstyle of one of the actresses.. LOL It's amazing after you measure all the points of your eyes, mouth and face it can add make up to your face. I thought it was quite funny. The best thing to do is take a picture of you with your hair pulled away from your face. Anyway.. Joe has a new girl in this picture.. LOL

We had another wonderful Christmas at Chicklet and Pops house and it was special since it will be the last Christmas gathering there... :( sniff.. sniff.. Anyhoo... My sister Lori will take up the honors next year, with lots of our help since she has the biggest place for all of us crazies..

Christophers Graduation Dec 18, 2009

My oldest son Christopher graduated from the School Of Massage Therapy in our area. The ceremony was small and quite and at a very grand hotel and spa. Joe, myself and my parents were able to attend. Congratulations Christopher!!!!

Christmas decorating and Pugs.

Well it's about that time this year. I am not a big fan of decorating and shopping and all of the things that go along with the holiday as I used to be. It takes me awhile of pushing and shoving to get myself going. Yesterday we finally took the minimal decorations down that I put up every year. Two table top trees, one comes right out of the box fully decorated.. Now that is Christmas to me.. :) The other is a small fiber optic one that really only looks good at night when it's lit up. You can't hang decorations off of it because it would interfere with the way the fiber optic light shines on the branches. I am thinking of purchasing a little bigger one for the table that comes with lights on it and I can put some of my special decorations on it that have been packed away for years. All of the other decorations came out of a few boxes. I must admit it was quick, simple and made me feel better after it was done. I do enjoy the sparkle that Christmas lights and decorations bring to the home since I am all about glitter and bling. I think I will look into a set of white twinkling lights to put up inside my house all year long like you see in special gift shops.
